TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The College of Southern Idaho Men's Basketball Team won the Scenic West Athletic Conference Title, the Region 18 Tournament Championship and swept the Region 18 conference season awards.
Golden Eagle Head Coach
Jeff Reinert was named Region 18 Coach of the Year and
Ace Reiser earned Region 18 Player of the Year.
Nathan Ahner claimed first-team honors and
Jalen Lyn,
Cooper Kesler and
Ben Thornbrue were all second-team selections.
Reiser was the motor for the Golden Eagles all season. The freshman point guard averaged 14.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.5 steals per game. He was named Scenic West Athletic Conference Player of the Week three times and NJCAA National Player of the Week once. He finished the season ranked in the top 10 in the conference in assists, steals, rebounds and scoring. Reiser also was named to the Region 18 All-Tournament Team.
Ahner was another steady player all year for CSI. The forward averaged 11.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.4 steals per game. He also ranked in the top 10 in the conference stats in assists, steals and rebounds. The sophomore was named SWAC Player of the Week three times.
Lyn, who started in 30 games for the Golden Eagles, led the team in points with 15.2 per game. He also averaged 3.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists and .5 steals per game. The guard was SWAC Player of the Week one time and was selected to the Region 18 All-Tournament Team.
Known for the energy he brings to the court, Kesler was a spark for the Golden Eagles all year. The shooting guard averaged 13.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.7 assists and .9 steals per game. He ranked first in the conference in 3-point field made per game at 2.6 and third in 3-point field goal percentage at .447. He was SWAC Player of the Week once. He also was named the Region 18 Tournament MVP.
Rounding out the Golden Eagle selections is forward
Ben Thornbrue. The sophomore averaged 11.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.4 blocks per game. He ranked third in the conference in blocks per game.Â
The Golden Eagles play in the District Playoff Saturday against Cochise College in Douglas, Ariz.
