TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The third-ranked College of Southern Idaho Men's Basketball Team beat top-ranked Snow College 64-60 in the Region 18 Championship Saturday.
Cooper Kesler was 5-for-8 from the 3-point line with the biggest of those five coming with 51 seconds to play and the score tied at 57. After a defensive stop aided by a Kesler rebound,
Jalen Lyn knocked down two free thorws with 30 seconds to play to give the GoldenÂ
Eagles a five-point cushion.
Snow again missed a 3-pointer and
Ace Reiser secured the rebound and made two more free throws to go up 64-57 with 12 seconds to play. Snow knocked down a 3-pointer with five seconds to play but ran out of time.
The biggest different came at the free-throw line for the game where CSI shot 79 percent, making 15-of-19, while Snow managed just 60 percent on 9-of-15.
Kesler led the Golden Eagles with 21 points along with six rebounds. Reiser finished with 15 points, four rebounds and three assists and
Jalen Lyn had eight points, seven rebounds and three assists.
Charlie Dimmock had nine points and three rebounds off the bench.
Kesler was named MVP of the Region 18 tournament. Other members of the all-tournament team included Lyn (CSI), Brock McClure (Snow), Reiser (CSI), McCaden Adams (Snow) and Ike Palmer (USUE).
CSI, 30-2 overall, will travel to either Henderson, Nev. or Douglas, Ariz. Friday for the District Championship between Region 1 and Region 18.
