TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The third-ranked College of Southern Idaho Men's Basketball Team beat top-ranked Snow College 71-66 to win the Scenic West Athletic Conference regular season championship and earn hosting rights for the Region 18 Tournament next week.
The game was a battle to the end with CSI taking the 66-64 lead with a minute to play on a layup and free throw by
Nathan Ahner. After holding Snow on the next possession, CSI's
Ben Thornbrue knocked down two more three throws to extend the lead.Â
Snow answered with a bucket with 34 seconds to play but again the Golden Eagles were locked in at the free-throw line as
Cooper Kesler made both to give CSI the four-point lead. After forcing a turnover, the Golden Eagles added one more insurance point with 12 seconds to play on another Kesler free throw.
The Golden Eagles shot 82 percent from the line for the game.
Ace Reiser and
Nathan Ahner each scored 17 points to lead CSI. Resier added eight rebounds and two steals, while Ahner had a team-high 11 rebounds.
Jalen Lyn finished with 16 points. Thornbure finished with nine points and
Guygustone Kasenga had eight rebounds. Kesler posted eight points and four rebounds.
CSI, 28-2 overall and 14-1 in conference play, will host the Region 18 Tournament next Friday and Saturday.
