Box Score 2 HENDERSON, Nev. - The eighth-ranked College of Southern Idaho improved in all areas Saturday to beat Spoon River 11-1 and Northeastern Junior College 12-5 in non conference play.
The Golden Eagle pitchers held both teams at bay.
Eva Stoddard got the win against Spoon River, giving up one run on one hit with six strikeouts. In the second game,
Ella Farrell earned the start, going 4.1 innings and giving up just two earned runs with four strikeouts.
Marissa Mauger closed out the game to game the win, pitching the final 2.1 innings and giving up no earned runs on one hit.
At the plate, CSI used the long ball often.
In game one,
Courtney Christiansen had two home runs,
Alyce Archuleta had one and
Anslie Yazzie had one. Christiansen added one in game two as did
Lexi Crowley. Ava Howel hit two over against Northeastern to make eight on the day.
In the first game,
Kelsie Jensen was 2-for-3 with two doubles and Howell and Crowley each had a triple.
Adding to the big offensive output in game two was
Abbie Banning, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI,
Caroline Simpson, who was 1-for-2 with two RBI and
Adi Hansen who was 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.
The Golden Eagles travel to Yuma, Ariz. next week for a tournament hosted by Arizona Western.
