Golden Eagle pitcher Brooke Merrill pitched a gem, giving up one earned run on three hits with nine strikeouts. Offensively, Taya Manzanares was 1-for-3 with an RBI, Tessa Hokanson was 1-for-3 with a double and RBI, Rachael Brown was 1-for-2 with a double and Maame Johnson was 1-for-2.
The offense got rolling in game two. Brown was 3-for-3 with a home run and two RBI, Kenzee Hale was 1-for-2 with a double, Indee Jones was 1-for-1 with a double, Manzanares was 2-for-4 with two RBI and Brylee Bigelow was 2-for-4.
Abby Hayes earned the win in the circle going 6.1 innings and giving up three earned runs on six hits.
The Golden Eagles, 6-2 overall, take on 19th-ranked Eastern Arizona and Arizona Western Saturday before heading home.
