Box Score WACO, Texas - Trailing 5-1 with two outs, the College of Southern Idaho Softball Team pieced together a masterful comeback to beat McLennan 6-5 on a walk-off home run by
Gracie Tentinger Saturday.
The Golden Eagles were down to their last strike when
Ashlyn Bailey playing in her first game of the season singled to pitcher to start the rally.
Taya Manzanares followed with a single and then
Reagan Rex (running for Bailey) and Manzanares scored on a double to right center by
Tessa Hokanson. After
Saige Nielsen hit an RBI single to pull CSI within one run, Tentinger stepped up to the plate to belt a home run to right field for the walk-off win.
Abby Hayes started the game for the Golden Eagles and threw 4.2 solid innings, giving up three earned runs with just one walk.
Makenzie Evans came in to pitch the final 2.1 innings and earn the win, giving up one run on two hits with one strikeout.
Hokanson finished the day 2-for-4 with a double, Nielsen was 3-for-4 with a home run, double and two RBI and Tentinger was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. Bailey ended the game 1-for-2 with a walk.
CSI returns home and will open Scenic West Athletic Conference play March 3.
