Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 WACO, Texas - CSI Softball started out the day with a 2-0 lead but it quickly disappeared and the Golden Eagles struggled to find any consistency the rest of the day, losing 10-2 and 7-0 to Blinn College on Thursday.
The Golden Eagles started game one hot but starting pitcher Brooke Merrill exited the game with an injury in the bottom of the second inning with runners on and CSI had trouble finding the strike zone, walking in four runs as well has posting a fielding error. Pitcher Abby Hayes then entered the game and along with Saige Nielsen finally helped CSI out of the inning with a double play but the damage had been done and CSI was down 8-2.
Hayes did not give up an earned run in the game but CSI never got back into a hitting groove and couldn't score anymore runs. For the game, the Golden Eagles gave up eight walks and committed four errors. But matched Blinn's hit total with five.
Taya Manzanares went 2-for-3, Nielsen was 1-for-3 and Rachael Brown was 1-for-3.
The Golden Eagles finished game two with just three hits. Gracie Tentinger went 1-for-3 with a double and Manzanares and Brylee Bigelow each had a hit.
Hayes earned the loss but was solid again, giving up four runs on six hits with three strikeouts. Markessa Jensen relieved her, throwing three innings and giving up three runs on five hits with two strikeouts.
CSI will take on Tyler at 12:30 p.m. CT and #2 McLennen at 3 p.m. CT Friday.
