FORT DODGE, Iowa - The College of Southern Idaho Women's Cross Country Team gradually moved up throughout the 5k race Saturday to take fifth overall at the NJCAA Division I Women's Cross Country National Championships.
Through the first 1K of the race, the Golden Eagles were in ninth, then moved to sixth for the next three check-ins before moving up to the fifth position in the last 1,000 kilometers.
Leading the way for CSI was
Sage Lyon in 25th place in 19:29.7. The spread for the Golden Eagle scorers was just 39 seconds.Â
Lily Griffith took 33rd in 19:50.7,
Laurie Davidson was 34th in 19:52.3,
Indianna Lundell was 37th in 19:58.3 and
Audrey Lemon finished 45th in 20:09.6.
The Golden Eagles placed one spot higher than Snow College and five spots higher than Salt Lake CC from the Scenic West Athletic Conference. Odessa on the event, with Iowa Western second, Hutchinson CC third and El Paso fourth.
CSI returns home to begin training for the indoor track season.
