TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The 19th-ranked College of Southern Idaho found a way to beat USU Eastern 5-4 and 8-0 Friday in a Scenic West Athletic Conference doubleheader.
The Golden Eagles had seven hits in game one, led by
Sophia Stoddards 3-for-3 performance with two home runs and two RBI.
Olivia Taylor was 1-for-3 with a home run and 2 RBI and
Gracie Tentinger was 2-for-3.Â
In the circle,
Brooke Merrill earned the win, going 6.1 innings and giving up three earned runs on seven hits with four strikeouts.
August Cowan came in to close out the game and get the save. The freshman was able to get two quick outs and preserve the win.
Gracie Walters dominated in the circle for the Golden Eagles in game two. The sophomore pitched a three-hit shutout with nine strikeouts in the five innings.
At the plate Stoddard stayed hot, going 1-for-1 with two walks.
Cortney Rhees was 1-for-2 and
Maizie Clark was 1-for-2.
Saige Nielsen finished 1-for-3 with two RBI and
Kylie Baumert was 1-for-3 with one RBI. The Golden Eagles took advantage of seven walks.Â
CSI, now 23-6 overall and 13-1 in conference play, hosts USUE Saturday for two more games.
