TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The College of Southern Idaho Cross Country and Distance Track Program will say goodbye to three runners at the end of the school year but are excited to watch them succeed at the next level.
Raivio Manzer (Weber State University),
Sage Lyon (Western Oregon University) and
Edith Neslen (University of Pacific) have all made their decisions on where they will run and attend school next fall.Â
Manzer has been an anchor for the Golden Eagles both years he has competed, bringing home All-American honors at the NJCAA Division 1 Cross Country National Meet for placing ninth overall. He was also key for CSI's eighth-place team finish. Individually, the sophomore won the Scenic West Athletic Conference title and helped the team to the SWAC Championship. Manzer will run for a Weber State University program that is coached by former CSI Head Coach Lindsey Anderson.Â
Lyon and Neslen were instrumental in helping the Golden Eagle Women to a Scenic West Athletic Conference Championship and a fifth-place finish at the NJCAA National Cross Country Championships in November. Lyon placed 25th overall to lead the Golden Eagles. Western Oregon (Monmouth, Ore.), where Lyon is going, is a NCAA Division II school that competes in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. Neslen will run at Pacific in Stockton, Calif., a NCAA Division I school that competes in the West Coast Conference.
All three runners have qualified for the NJCAA Division 1 Indoor Track and Field National Championships next week in Topeka, Kan.
Manzer and Neslen will compete in the 3,000 Meters and 5,000 Meters, while Lyon will run in the 5,000 Meters only.
