CEDAR CITY, Utah - The College of Southern Idaho Men's and Women's Rodeo Teams opened the school year with their first rodeo at Southern Utah University Friday and Saturday. The women won the rodeo and the men placed third.
Celie Davis scored all of the Golden Eagles points, winning the Women's All-Around as well. She scored 350 points to put CSI in first place. Colorado Mesa stands in second at 280 points and Utah Valley is third with 270.
Davis placed fourth in Team Roping, fourth in Barrel Racing, first in Breakaway Roping and third in Goat Tying.
The Golden Eagles did have two other women place in an event but their points didn't contribute to team total.
Ellie Thurgood took third and Olivia Arnold took sixth in Barrel Racing.
The men's team scored 370 points, just behind Snow College with 490 and Southern Utah with 470.
Christian Bolli won Saddle Bronc Riding and
Dahl Winters took Bareback Riding.
In Tie Down Roping,
Kasen Post placed sixth with
Oran Davis in eighth. The Golden Eagles also did well in Steer Wrestling.
Landen Roggenkamp finished second and
Chase Andrade took fifth.
CSI next competes Sept. 12-13 in the Idaho State University Rodeo in Pocatello.
