Box Score 2 SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - The College of southern Idaho baseball squad had a huge day offensively as they notched 22 runs on the day as they split with Scottsdale on Friday, winning 14-1 before falling 14-8 in game two.
In game one, the Golden Eagles scored in every inning of a shortened five inning game due to the run rule.
Kason O'Neil got the party started with an RBI double in the first inning. In the second inning Southern Idaho was able to tack on three more runs all with two outs, highlighted by an rbi double by
Jayden Jacksha. In the top of the third inning, the Golden Eagles broke it open with seven runs, capped off by a three-run home run off of the bat of
Kolton Hicks. CSI would add two runs in the fourth and another run in the fifth. The 14 runs were plenty for game one starter
Brock Snow to work with as he went five innings allowing just one hit, one run, and struck out five.
Trey Purser had a three hit day along with
Tayson Howard who had two hits and two rbi.Â
In game two, the Southern Idaho bats didn't cool off one bit as they exploded for five runs in the first inning with the big blow coming from
Brexten Starley's three-run home run. Scottsdale's bats woke up as well as they scored four in the second inning and were able to tie it up by adding another run in the third inning. Much like the Golden Eagles in game one, the Artichokes broke the game wide open with seven runs in the fourth inning. A two rbi double by O'Neil cut the Scottsdale lead to five but that would be as close as the Golden Eagles would get as they eventually ended up falling 14-8.
Jack Barker notched three hits, while
Crew Secrist and
Trey Purser each had multi-hit games.Â
