TWIN FALLS -
Kody Garvin ripped a shot to the right center gap scoring
Quentin Marcelin to give the Golden Eagle baseball team a 3-2 win over #17 Southern Nevada in game two Friday. CSI fell in the opener 6-2.
Heading into the bottom of the eighth inning, it looked like the Coyotes might get the sweep after scoring the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth. But CSI's
Joey Rossi worked a lead-off walk and advanced to second on a wild pick off attempt.
Dugan Shirer laid down the sacrifice bunt to get Rossi to third. Then
Harrison Ramey's double tied the game up a 3. CSI head coach
Boomer Walker inserted Marcelin in to pinch run. The Coyotes intentionally walked
Bodie Cooper. That's when Garvin laced the walk-off rbi hit into right center.
Golden Eagle starter
Mason Hilty kept CSI in the game for seven innings, giving up just three hits with seven strikeouts and one unearned run.
Tyler Burdett came into the game in the eighth to earn the win on the mound, giving up three hits and one earned run with one strikeout.
At the plate, Garvin finished 2-for-4 with one rbi and
Harrison Ramey was 2-for-4 with one rbi.
In the early game, The Golden Eagles couldn't get to Southern Nevada starter Phil Bickford, who threw five innings, giving up just one hit with nine strikeouts. CSI scored a couple runs late off the Coyote reliever.
Makay Nelson earned the loss for the Golden Eagles, going 5.2 innings and giving up eight hits and three earned runs with five strikeouts.
Shirer finished the game 2-for-3 at the plate to lead CSI.
The Golden Eagles wrap of the four-game series Saturday at noon.
