Before CSI: A two-sport athlete at Richland High School, Mason played basketball and baseball.
As a freshman, he helped his team to a league championship and a second-place finish at state in baseball. On the basketball court, he was key in the team's league championship his senior season.
Mason earned league MVP honors as a senior and was named to the all-state team.
