TWIN FALLS - College of Southern Idaho pitchers Zack Draper and Mason Hilty were masterful Friday, leading the Golden Eagles to 5-2 and 3-0 wins over Utah State University Eastern.
Draper went six innings, giving up five hits with eight strikeouts for the game one win. Tyler Burdett closed the game down, pitching one inning and giving up no hits or runs. Hilty followed that with a nine-inning shutout, giving up just three hits with no walks and eight strikeouts.
At the plate in game one, Joey Rossi went 3-for-4 with one RBI and a stolen base. Dugan Shirer was 2-for-4 with one RBI, including a triple. Jake Boyd added a triple.
The Golden Eagles finished with more hits in game two but less runs. Shirer was 1-for-3 with a double. Boyd finished 3-for-3 with a double and one RBI. and Harrison Ramey went 3-for-4.
CSI improves to 27-15 overall. The Golden Eagles host USU-Eastern Saturday for a doubleheader starting at noon.
