JEROME, Idaho - The CSI Men's Soccer team suffered their first loss of the season, as their second half push against 17th-ranked North Idaho fell short, falling 2-1 on Thursday afternoon.
In the home opener for the Golden Eagles, they had troubles getting much offense going for much of the first half as North Idaho was able to capitalize with a pair of goals in the 12th and 31st minutes to take a 2-0 lead into the halftime locker room.
In the second half, the Golden Eagles started to find their offensive attack as they were able to get off four of their five total shots in the half. The Golden Eagles were finally able to break through and cut the Cardinal lead in half in the 57th minute on a beautiful cross from
Adria Lledo Sampol, that was finished by
Felipe Argento for the lone goal. Southern Idaho had a handful of chaces to equalize, but the nationally ranked Cardinals held strong, keeping the score at 2-1 until the final horn.
Just one of the Golden Eagles five shots were on goal, as a handful of missed opportunities led to the home opening loss.
Lasse Brier got the loss in goal for the Golden Eagles, but did make four saves in the defeat.
The Golden Eagles will attempt to right the ship on Saturday, when they host Pacific Northwest Christian, at 1:30 p.m.
