SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The College of Southern Idaho Softball Team beat Salt Lake CC 9-8 Thursday to advance to the NJCAA National Tournament in Oxford, Ala.
The Golden Eagles jumped out to a lead in the first inning and extended it to 9-3 before Salt Lake mounted a comeback and pulled within 9-8 in the fourth. But
Ella Farrell came into the game to shut it down. The sophomore didn't give up a hit or run in her 2.1 innings for the save and to preserve the Golden Eagle win.
CSI's
Maile Ha'o was the star of the game, hitting a grand slam and a three-run home run to lead the Golden Eagles.
Adi Hansen was 4-for-5 with a stolen base.
Emerson Fuller got the win in the circle, going 4.2 innings and giving up five earned runs with four strikeouts.
Ha'o was named the Region 18 Tournament MPV. Also making the all-tournament team from CSI were
Rilyne Keck,
Kyli Carrell,
Emerson Fuller and Hansen.
The national tournament will start May 25th.
