OXFORD, Ala. - The College of Southern Idaho Softball Team beat Dodge City 4-3 Monday in the opening round of the NJCAA Division I World Series.
The Golden Eagles tied the game at three in the sixth inning after
Anslie Yazzie walked and
Kyli Carrell got on with an error and both advanced another base.
Maile Ha'o then brought in Yazzie to tie the game and send it to the seventh for CSI's walk-off win.
After
Ella Farrell got three straight outs in the top of the seventh in the circle,
Lexi Crowley led off the bottom half with a walk, her second of the game. With one out
Camryn Guest got on with a fielders choice and Crowley was safe at second on an error and advanced to third on the same error. Running for Crowley,
Ava Howell scored one hitter later for the walk off win when
Rilyne Keck grounded to second base and Howell beat the throw home.Â
Yazzie finished the game 2-for-2 with a walk and two RBI and Crowley was 1-for-1 with a double.Â
Farrell earned the win, pitching the final 4.2 innings and giving up just one earned run on two hits with four strikeouts.
Emerson Fuller pitched the first 2.1 innings, giving up two earned runs on three hits with three strikeouts.
CSI will now take on the four seed Temple College Tuesday at 11 a.m. CT.
