SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The College of Southern Idaho earned at least a share of the Scenic West Athletic Conference Title with a split Friday against Salt Lake and will go for the outright win tomorrow in the fourth game of the series.
The Golden Eagles beat the Bruins in game one 2-1 before falling in game two 10-8.
CSI's
Kyson Giles and
Kaleb Doty were dominant in the win. Giles went 6.1 innings, giving up just one run on four hits with six strikeouts. Doty earned the save, pitching .2 innings and giving up no runs and no hits.
At the plate,
Tayson Howard and
Noah Gatti were each 2-for-3.
Cade Burnham was 1-for-3 with a double and one RBI.
The Golden Eagles led 8-4 in game two before Salt Lake scored one in the fifth and five runs in the six to come from behind.
Trey Purser hit three home runs in the lost with four RBI. Burnham had a two-RBI triple.
Crew Secrist finished the game 2-for-3.
Will Grizzle took the loss, pitching the final 1.2 innings and giving up five runs on seven hits with one strikeout.
Degan Rigby pitched three innings, giving up four runs on four hits with a strikeout, while
Caden Fenger pitched 1.1 innings, giving up one run on three hits with a strikeout.
CSI, 40-12 overall and 16-7 in conference play, finish regular season play Saturday with a nine-inning game at Salt Lake at 11 a.m.
