TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The College of Southern Idaho beat Colorado Northwestern 9-2 in the Scenic West Athletic Conference nine-inning weekend series opener Thursday.
The Golden Eagles jumped onto the board in the bottom of the first inning with two runs and never trailed.
CSI added three runs in the fifth on a
Crew Secrist home run and two more in the bottom of the sixth. Colorado Northwestern would score two in the seventh but that would be it.
Both
Tayson Howard and
Cade Burnham were 2-for-5 on the day. Secrist was 2-for-4 with four RBI and
Ryder Cutlip was 3-for-5.
Mack Evans was 3-for-4.
Grayson Riding got the win, pitching 6.2 innings and giving up two earned runs on six hits with eight strikeouts.
Jackson Gardner gave up no runs or hits in 2.1 innings of relief and had three strikeouts.
CSI takes on CNCC again Friday for a doubleheader at 1 p.m.
