PRICE, Utah - Trey Purser knocked his 15th home run of the season, setting the College of Southern Idaho Baseball single season record (wood bat era) Friday in a doubleheader with USU Eastern. The Golden Eagles lost game one 6-4 before beating the Eagles of Price 16-13 in game two.
Purser's long ball beat the record held by Crew Robinson in 2021.
His home run came in game one. He finished the game with three RBI. Ryder Cutlip was 1-for- and Crew Secrist was 2-for-4. Kyson Giles took the loss, pitching the first four innings, giving up six earned runs on six hits with four strikeouts. Caden Fenger pitching 1.2 innings, giving up 0 runs on two hits with two strikeouts and Cayman Kap pitched the final out of the game.
Game two was a slugfest. Purser was 1-for-2 with four walks and four RBI and Tayson Howard was 2-for-4. Secrist had a big game for the Golden Eagles, going 3-for-4 with a home run, double and seven RBI. Cade Burnham was 3-for-5.
Jackson Gardner earned the win, pitching four innings and giving up four earned runs on three hits with seven strikeouts.. Will Grizzle got the save, pitching the final inning with two strikeouts.
CSI plays USU Eastern in the  final game of the series Saturday at 11 a.m.
