HUTCHINSON, Kan. - The second-seeded College of Southern Idaho Men's Basketball Team secured a spot in the NJCAA National Championship game by beating Gult Coast State College 82-70 Friday.
The Golden Eagles led by as much as 21 points and then held on down the stretch for the win.
Jalen Lyn led the Golden Eagles with 24 points along with five rebounds and four assists.
Ace Reiser was a perfect 5-for-5 from the 3-point line, finishing with 23 points, five rebounds, eight assists and one steal.
Nathan Ahner had 14 points and a team-high eight rebounds as well as four assists and
Ben Thornbrue finished with 11 points, five rebounds, two assists and two blocks.Â
For the game, CSI shot 55 percent from long range and 48 percent from the field overall.Â
The Golden Eagles made 72 percent of their free-throw shots compared to just 40 percent for Gulf Coast. CSI also out-rebounded Gulf Coast 37 to 31.
CSI, 34-2 overall, will take on the top-seeded Howard College Saturday at 2 p.m. MT in a quest for the Golden Eagles fourth men's basketball national championship. The last time CSI won was 2011.
