HUTCHINSON, Kan. - The second-seeded College of Southern Idaho Men's Basketball Team beat Walters State 85-64 Wednesday to advance to the NJCAA National Tournament semifinals.
The Golden Eagles did it by making their shots inside the perimeter, taking care of the basketball and stifling defensive pressure.
Walters State ranks fourth in the nation in points per game at 100.4. CSI held them to just 64 points in the game.
On the flip side, the Golden Eagles coughed up just two turnovers all game and shot 47.5 percent from the field and 61 percent from inside the 3-point line.
Jalen Lyn led CSI with 25 points along with six rebounds and three assists.
Ben Thornbrue added 16 points, five rebounds, two assists and two blocks and
Cooper Kesler had 19 points and three rebounds.
Both
Ace Reiser and
Nathan Ahner were solid in every category. Reiser finished with nine points, five rebounds, seven assists and three steals. Ahner had seven points, seven rebounds, five assists and two steals.
With the win, CSI moves into the semifinals Friday at 7 p.m. MT. The Golden Eagles will take on the winner of Northwest Florida and Gulf Coast.
