TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The seventh-ranked College of Southern Idaho Volleyball Team battled to the end, eventually falling to 15th-ranked Northeastern 20-25, 25-15, 29-27, 13-25, 15-7 on Friday in the Starr Corporation Invitational.
The Golden Eagles pushed the match to a fifth set after a dominating fourth-set win but couldn't close out the match.
Vivian Goto ended the match with 17 kills for the Golden Eagles and eight digs on the outside.
Isabel Smart added 15 kills and three blocks and
Ashlee Stanger and
Mina Benucci each had 10 kills. CSI out-hit Northeastern .272 to .224 but NJC was able to get down more kills for the match and less service errors. CSI had nine service errors to NJC's two. The Golden Eagles also had nine reception errors, while NJC had two.
Dalayni Brindley finished with a double-double, posting 31 assists and 12 digs. On defense,
Hazuna Akishige led the Golden Eagles with 19.
Emerson Heatwole added 15.Â
The Golden Eagles have a chance to bounce back on Saturday, taking on Eastern Wyoming at 11 a.m. and Central Wyoming at 5 p.m.
