Box Score 2 SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The 11th-ranked College of Southern Idaho Volleyball Team battled to the end with top-ranked Miami Dade, falling 17-25, 31-29, 25-22, 25-20. The Golden Eagles bounced back to beat Missouri State University West Plains 25-21, 25-16, 24-26, 25-11 on Friday in the Salt Lake CC Tournament.
CSI jumped out to the first set win against the Sharks and had five set points in game two with a 24-19 lead but couldn't close Miami Dade out and the Sharks eventually outlasted the Golden Eagles.Â
Ava Pond led CSI with 12 kills.
Vivian Goto added 11 kills and eight digs on the outside.
Mina Benucci finished with eight kills, five digs and five blocks and
Isabel Smart had seven kills and six blocks.
Emerson Heatwole posted an impressive five service aces and
Dalayni Brindley had a team-high 40 assists and eight digs.
Goto continued to dominate in the second match, leading the Golden Eagles with 15 kills, seven digs and five service aces. Pond added 13 kills and Benucci had nine.
Zeynep Balci was a force at the net with five kills and four blocks. Brindley again was solid in the setter position with 40 assists and five digs. Defensively,
Hazuna Akishige had a team-high 18 digs.
CSI, 10-4 overall, will take on #10 Trinity Valley Saturday and Eastern Wyoming to close out the tournament.
