Box Score 2 SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The College of Southern Idaho Volleyball Team got revenge on Thursday of the Salt Lake Crystal "Inn"vitational, beating top-ranked Florida Southwestern 25-21, 23-25, 19-25, 26-24, 15-11 and Eastern Florida State College 34-32, 25-15, 25-18.
CSI handed Florida Southwestern its first non-conference loss in 1455 days.
The Golden Eagles were swept by both FSW and Eastern Florida last weekend in Florida.
CSI gutted out the first win over Bucaneers behind the play of
Vivian Goto and
Mina Benucci. Goto finished the match with 14 ills and 10 digs, while Benucci owned the net with eight kills and nine blocks.
Ava Pond added 12 kills and
Dalayni Brindley had 19 assists and 15 digs. Defensively,
Hazuna Akishige (14 digs, 7 assists) and
Emerson Heatwole (13 digs) were solid for the Golden Eagles.
After pulling out a tight first set against Eastern Florida, CSI rolled in its second match.
Goto was good again, posting seven kills, nine digs and three blocks.
Isabel Smart led the Golden eagles with 13 kills along with four blocks. Finishing with a team-high assists for the second time Thursday was Brindley with 26. She added three service aces.
Gracee Robertson was stingy at the net, getting seven blocks.
The Golden Eagles, 4-2 overall, take on Central Wyoming at 11:30 a.m. and Western Wyoming at 4:30 p.m. Friday to finish off their weekend in Salt Lake.
