CSI Softball wins 12th straight game with sweep over USU Eastern

TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The 24th-ranked College of Southern Idaho Softball Team took two wins over USU Eastern Friday 7-6 and 16-1 to finish up regular season Scenic West Athletic Conference play and celebrate sophomore day.
The Golden Eagles took a 6-3 lead into the seventh inning of game one but USU Eastern tied it up to send the game into extra innings. After holding the Eagles of Price to no runs in the top of the eighth, CSI got the walk-off win when Courtney Christiansen laced a shot into right center scoring Lexi Crowley from first base.
Abbie Banning ended the game 2-for-3 with a double, Anslie Yazzie was 1-for-2 and Adi Hansen was 2-for-5 with a triple. Mariah Schauwecker hit a three-run home run.
Emerson Fuller earned the win, pitching the final 1.2 innings and giving up no runs on one hit with two strikeouts. Eva Stoddard pitched the first 6.1 innings, giving up six runs with three strikeouts.
Game two was all CSI.
The Golden Eagles pounded out 12 hits with eight free passes in their four innings at the plate.
Lily Heitz was 2-for-2 with a double and one RBI, Alyce Archuleta was 2-for-2 and Brielle Milius was 1-for-1. Kyli Carrell finished 2-for-4 with a grand slam and six RBI and Lexi Crowley had a two-RBI home run.
Marissa Mauger got the win, pitching all five innings and giving up one earned run on four hits with three strikeouts.
CSI, 37-14 overall and 28-4 in conference play, hosts the Region 18 Tournament, starting Tuesday. The Golden Eagles will play North Idaho at 2:30 p.m.
