TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The 21st-ranked College of Southern Idaho Softball Team used a big third inning to pull away from North Idaho and beat the Cardinals 9-0 on the first day of the Region 18 Tournament.
The Golden Eagles scored seven runs in the third inning, highlighted by a three-RBI triple by
Lily Heitz and a two-run home run by
Alyce Archuleta.
Abbie Banning gave CSI the run rule in the bottom of the fifth with a two-run home run over the centerfield wall.
Adi Hansen finished the game 2-for-3 and
Lexi Crowley and
Ava Howell were each 1-for-2.
Emerson Fuller got the shut-out win in the circle, giving up five hits with three strikeouts and no walks.
CSI will take on Salt Lake CC at noon in the undefeated game Wednesday. Earlier Tuesday, the Bruins beat Snow College 13-4. North Idaho and Snow will play at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
