PRICE, Utah - The College of Southern Idaho Baseball Team lost to USU Eastern 7-3 Thursday to open the Region 18 Tournament.
The tournament format is a best 2-out-of-3 game series so the Golden Eagles will have a chance to tie it up Friday at 1 p.m.
USU Eastern jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the third inning and the Golden Eagles couldn't find enough offense to comeback even though they hit two home runs.
Mack Evans had a two-run shot and Kason O'Neil hit a one-run homer. O'Neil was the only CSI player with more than one hit in the game. Jack Barker was 1-for-3 with two walks and Brexten Starley was 1-3 with a walk. 
Shay Benson took the loss, pitching the first three innings, giving up five runs on five hits. Hartle finished the game, pitching the final 1.2 innings and giving up no runs on no hits.
