TWIN FALLS, Idaho - They weren't pretty wins but the Golden Eagle Softball Team found a way to beat USU Eastern 5-4 and 7-5 Thursday top open the four-game Scenic West Athletic Conference series.
In game one, CSI scored most of its runs on home runs.
Rilyne Keck was 2-for-3 with a home run and one RBI and
Lexi Crowley was 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI. The fifth run was scored on an bases-loaded walk by
Lily Heitz.Â
Emerson Fuller earned the win, pitching 6.2 innings and giving up four runs on seven hits with four strikeouts.
Eva Stoddard got the save, pitching the last out.
Both teams did a majority of their scoring in the first inning of game two. USUE scored four runs and CSI six to start the game.
Heitz was 2-for-4 with an RBI,
Courtney Christiansen was 1-for-2 with an RBI and
Anslie Yazzie was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Both Abbie Bannine and Crowley were 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Ella Farrell got the win, pitching all seven innings and giving up five earned runs on nine hits with six strikeouts.
CSI, 34-14 overall and 25-4 in conference play, will finish up the regular season Friday at noon. Sophomores will be honored prior to the games.
