TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The College of Southern Idaho Baseball Team rallied for a 7-6 win against USU Eastern before falling 3-2 in the second game of a Scenic West Athletic Conference doubleheader Friday.
The Golden Eagles trailed 6-0 going into the bottom of the seventh.
Trey Purser started the rally with a solo home run. After stringing some hits together CSI tied the game on a
Jack Barker grand slam to send it to extra innings.
Degan Rigby held USUE scoreless on the mound in the top of the eighth to set of the walk-off hit. Purser led off the inning with a single. And then
Jack Ryan hit a triple to score Purser for the win.
Barker finished the game 2-for-4 with four RBI, Purser was 2-for-3 with an RBI and
Calvin Morrow was 1-for-2.
Cooper Ford was 1-for-1. Rigby earned the win for the Golden Eagles.
In game two, the Golden Eagles again rallied again in the last inning with a chance to tie but Ryan tried to score from third and was called out to end the game.
Tayson Haoward finished the game 2-for-2 and
Kason O'Neil was 2-for-3 with a triple.
Shay Benson took the loss, pitching all seven innings and giving up two earned runs on five hits with two strikeouts.
CSI, 29-21 overall and 7-11 in conference play, hosts USUE again Saturday at 11 a.m.
