RANGELY, Colo. - The College of Southern Idaho Baseball Team took the 9-4 win before falling in the final game of the series to Colorado Northwestern 15-14 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
The Golden Eagles entered the sixth of game one in a 2-2 tie. But a six-run sixth put CSI on top to stay.
Crew Secrist was 3-for-4 with two RBI and Cole DeCastro was 2-for-3 with a double. Jack Ryan was 1-for-2 with a double and RBI and Tayson Howard was 2-for-5 with a double and RBI.
Mason Hartle pitched all seven innings, giving up four earned runs on six hits with eight strikeouts.
Game two was a back and forth affair as the teams swapped leads seven times. It looked like CSI was in control, taking a 14-10 lead into the bottom of the ninth. But Colorado rallied, scoring five runs capped by a walk-off grand slam for the win.
Secrist was 3-for-7 with a double and home run, Howard was 2-for-4 with two RBI, Mack Evans was 3-for-5, Kason O'Neil was 2-for-4 and Trey Purser was 2-for-4 with a grand slam and six RBI. 
Five different pitchers threw in the game. Degan Rigby earned the loss, pitching in the end and giving up three earned runs on two hits.
CSI, 28-20 overall and 6-10 in conference play, returns home to host USU Eastern Friday and Saturday.
