TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The College of Southern Idaho beat 16th-ranked Salt Lake CC 3-2 before falling 10-5 in game two of a Scenic West Athletic Conference doubleheader Friday.
The Golden Eagles used the long ball to win game one.
Courtney Christiansen hit a solo home run and then
Alyce Archuleta hit a two-run home run to give CSI its three runs.
Eva Stoddard got the win in the circle, pitching all seven innings and giving up just two earned runs on six hits with six strikeouts.
CSI jumped out to a 5-0 lead in game two but couldn't extend it and Salt Lake scored three runs in the third and six in the fourth to take the lead for good.
Adi Hansen was 1-for-2, Archuleta was 1-for-2 with a double and three RBI,
Anslie Yazzie was 1-for-2 and
Ava Howell was 1-for-2.
Ella Farrell earned the loss, pitching the first 3.2 innings, giving up six earned runs on seven hits with one strikeout.
Marissa Mauger pitched 3.1 innings, giving up four earned runs on four hits with three strikeouts.
CSI, 25-14 overall and 18-4 in conference play, takes on Salt Lake against Saturday at noon.
