TWIN FALLS, Idaho - Led by
Samara Morrow, the College of Southern Idaho Women's Basketball Team used a stifling defense to beat Monroe University 81-60 Thursday in the the Battle for the Boot Tournament.
The sophomore guard finished the game with a record-tying 10 steals along with nine assists, eight points and five rebounds. Morrow's 10 steals ties five other former Golden Eagle players for the most steals in a game record. Even more impressive is that she did it without committing a turnover on the night.
Morrow wasn't the only one to come up with big games.
Savannah Stoker led all scorers with 22 points and had six rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Maci Hess was one rebounds away from a double-double, finishing with 19 points and nine rebounds and
Lea Nadolny posted nine assists for the Golden Eagles.
Sophomore
Chloe Jensen finished with nine points and eight rebounds and
Ashley Garner had five points and six rebounds.Â
CSI's defense disrupted the Mustangs offense, holding them to just 31 percent from the field and 19 percent from long range. CSI countered that with 49 percent field goal percentage and 86 percent from the free throw line.Â
The win makes it six straight wins for CSI. The Golden Eagles take on Cochise College Friday at 7 p.m. In the early game Thursday, Cochise lost to ninth-ranked Shelton State 90-49.
