Box Score SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - The Southern Idaho baseball squad battled for much of Thursdays game against Scottsdale CC before the game got away from them in a 10-2 defeat.
CSI actually struck first in game one of a five game series as a single off of the bat of
Brexten Starley broke the scoreless tie in the top of te fhe fourth inning. That lead wouldn't last long as Scottsdale answered right away in the bottom half with an RBI single of their own.
Shay Benson was very solid in his second outing of the year, as he threw five innings only surrendering three hits and one run, leaving the game a 1-1 tie. The Golden Eagles would take the lead once again in the late innings, as
Brayden Peterson executed a suicide squeeze that plated
Mack Evans. That lead wouldn't last long either, as Scottsdale's bats woke up in the bottom half of the seventh as they piled on six runs, and then added two more in the bottom of the eighth to ultimately win via the run rule.
Jack Barker and
Crew Secrist each finished with one hit as well as Starley. Southern Idaho is right back in action tomorrow for games two and three of their weekend series.
