TUCSON, Ariz. - The CSI Baseball squad rallied late in search of their first win but suffered their second walk off defeat of the season as they lost to Pima CC 8-7 in ten innings in the final game of their weekend series.
Much like game two of yesterdays double header, it was a slow start for the Golden Eagles as Pima plated four runs in the first inning thanks to back-to-back RBI doubles. The Aztecs added another run in the bottom of the second to jump out to the early 5-0 lead. Southern Idaho was finally able to crack the scoreboard in the top of the fifth inning as
Tayson Howard scored on a passed ball, although the Aztecs answered with a run of their own in the bottom half of the fifth inning. It wasn't until the seventh inning when the CSI bats woke up and the rally had officially begun.
Brayden Peterson got it all started as he lined a two RBI single to right field, and two batters later scored on an error. CSI wasn't done yet as
Jack Barker continued his hot sophomore season with an RBI double cutting the Aztec lead to one. Still, trailing by one, down to their final chance,
Mack Evans clutched up with an RBI double, scoring Peterson, to tie the game.
Kason O'Neil worked a scoreless bottom of the ninth to send the game to extra innings. Southern Idaho did plate the first run of the extra frame as
Brayden Peterson once again drove in a run on a sacrifice fly that scored
Crew Secrist. In the bottom of the tenth inning, the first two Aztecs reached base with a single and double, respectively. Pima tied it up with an RBI ground out, and ultimately walked it off with a suicide squeeze play the very next batter. The loss, brings CSI to 0-4 after their first weekend. They will continue their search for their first victory of the eyar, Tuesday as they have a single game against Paradise Valley.
