TUCSON, Ariz. - The CSI Baseball team is still in search of their first victory of the year after dropping both games of a doubleheader to Pima CC, 5-3 in game one, and 13-3 in game two.
In game one, CSI got off to another fast start as they plated two runs in the first inning thanks to an RBI single by
Brexten Starley, followed by a passed ball that scored
Jack Barker. That was all the scoring there was until the final frame thanks to a fantastic outing by
Brock Snow, who went five innings, only surrendering one hit, one walk, and had three strikeouts. The Golden Eagles added on an insurance run in the top of 7th on an RBI double from
Brexten Starley. In their final chance, the Pima bats woke up just in time as the first two batters reached base followed by a game tying three run home run. With two outs, in the same inning, the Golden Eagles were an out away from sending the game into extra innings, but a two out walk followed by a walk-off three run home run capped off the five run 7th inning, and the victory for the Aztecs.
Game two was all Pima early as they struck for three runs in the bottom of the first and never looked back. Southern Idaho did strike for their first two runs of the game in the top of the third inning as
Crew Secrist continued his hot start to the year with a two RBI double that cut the Pima lead to one. The floodgates opened for the Aztecs from there as they added three more runs in the bottom half of the third, followed by a four-run fourth inning, and a three-run 5th inning leading to the 13-3, ten run rule final.
Jack Barker added another hit to his season total, as he has at least one hit in all three games so far, and
Mack Evans notched his first hit of his collegiate career.
The Golden Eagles, now 0-3 on the year, will finish their four game weekend series with Pima on Sunday with one final nine inning game starting at 12:00 p.m.
