Golden Eagle Volleyball battles but comes up short Saturday

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The College of Southern Idaho Volleyball Team lost to 17th-ranked Butler College 27-25, 25-14, 25-20 early Saturday before falling to Eastenr Wyoming 25-14, 24-26, 25-17, 22-25, 15-7 in the Crystal "Inn"vitational.
Against Butler, Kelsy Stanger led the offense with seven kills. Jada Thomson-Swinson added five kills and five blocks. Hazuna Akishige led the Golden Eagles with 23 digs and Kirsten Mullins had 13 assists and nine digs.
In the Eastern Wyoing match, Thomas-Swinson was solid again with nine kills and six blocks. Mina Benucci added eight kills and six blocks. Isabel Smart had a good all-around game, finishing with 28 assists, 14 digs and seven kills. Akishige posted 27 digs.
CSI, 2-6 overall, hosts the Starr Corporation Invitational Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the CSI Gymnasium.
