SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - After fighting through a one-run loss to Salt Lake on Tuesday, an emotional win over Snow and a battle all day against the elements, the College of Southern Idaho Softball Team didn't have much left in the tank Wednesday, falling to the Bruins 20-5 in the championship game.
Even with the offense struggling to get much going, the Golden Eagles were still able to hit two home runs in the loss, taking their season total to 119, which ranks them second in the nation.
The championship does not operate under the regular season run rule of an eight-run lead after five so CSI played the entire seven innings.
Tessa Hokanson finished the game 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI.
Markessa Jensen was 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI.
Taya Manzanares was 1-for-2 with a walk.
Three CSI players were named to the all-tournament team.
Tessa Hokanson,
Kenzee Hale and
Tasha Hokanson all were selected for their play during the week.
The Golden Eagles, ranked sixth in the final poll, will await the announcement Tuesday of four at-large bids to the NJCAA National Tournament. If CSI is selected, they will compete in Oxford, Ala., May 20th through May 25th at the NJCAA National Tournament.
