OXFORD, Ala. - The ninth-seeded College of Southern Idaho Softball Team beat eighth-seeded Chattanooga State 7-4 Monday in the opening round of the NJCAA Division I Softball Championships.
The Golden Eagles jumped out to a 6-0 lead through two innings and then added one run in the sixth.
Hokanson was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI and
Kenzee Hale was 1-for-2 with a triple, and two RBI and
Haylee Farnsworth was 1-for-1.
Brylee Bigelow,
Tasha Hokanson and
Taya Manzanares were all 1-for-3. Bigelow hit a triple and had one RBI.
Abby Hayes earned the win in the circle, going six innings and giving up four earned runs on nine hits with five strikeouts.
Eva Stoddard pitched the final innings, giving up no runs on one hit with two strikeouts.
CSI will now take on the winner of McLennan and Iowa Western Wednesday at 1 p.m. CT (Noon MT).
