SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The College of Southern Idaho Softball Team fell to Salt Lake CC 4-3 early Tuesday before coming back to beat Snow College 4-3 on a walk of in the Region 18 Tournament.
The Golden Eagles trailed 3-1 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning in the loser-out contest against the Badgers.
Haylee Farnsworth led off the inning with a walk. After an out,
Abbie Banning drew a walk and
Tasha Hokanson had an infield single to load the bases. Tessa Hokansan ripped a ball to the outfield to score two and give
Kenzee Hale the walk-off opportunity at the plate with
Tasha Hokanson at third. Hale laid down the perfect bunt and Hokanson scored on the suicide squeeze for the win.Â
Tessa Hokanson was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Banning was 1-for-2 with a home run in the game.
Eva Stoddard got the win in the circle, pitching the final three innings and giving up no earned runs on two hits with one strikeout.
Abby Hayes pitched the first four innings, giving up one earned run on five hits.
In the earlier game, the Golden Eagles had the early 3-1 lead but didn't withstand a weather delay and fell behind 4-3 coming out of the break. CSI couldn't plate another run, sending the Golden Eagles into the game with Snow.
Both
Tessa Hokanson and
Courtney Christiansen had home runs in the loss. Hale and
Brylee Bigelow were each 1-for-3. Hayes earned the loss, going 4.1 innings and giving up four earned runs with two strikeouts. Stoddard pitched the final 1.2 innings, giving up no runs on one hit with one strikeout.
CSI will take on Salt Lake in the Region 18 Championship at noon Wednesday. The Golden Eagles would need to win two against the Bruins to win the Region 18 title.
