CSI Softball splits on final regular season day

PRICE, Utah - The sixth-ranked College of Southern Idaho beat USU Eastern 12-4 before falling on a walk-off hit in the bottom of the seventh 13-12.
Tied at 3 going into the fifth of game one, the Golden Eagles scored nine runs ro roll.
Kenzee Hale was 2-for-4 with a grand slam and four RBI, Taya Manzanares was 2-for-4, Brylee Bigelow was 1-for-3 with a triple and Abbie Banning was 2-for-3 with a triple.
Abby Hayes earned her 20th win of the year, pitching the final two innings and giving up one earned run on three hits with three strikeouts. Markessa Jensen pitched the opening three innings, giving up one earned run on two hits with three strikeouts.
The Golden Eagles struggled in all facets of the game in game two and still had chances.
Hale was 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI, Manzanares was 3-for-5 with two doubles, Courtney Christiansen was 2-for-5 with a double and Mariah Schauwecker was 1-for-1 with three walks. Haylee Farnsworth had a big game at the plate, finishing 4-for-5 with a home run, double and five RBI.
Eva Stoddard earned the loss, going four innings and giving up 10 earned runs with five strikeouts.
CSI will enter the Region 18 Tournament as the two seed. The Golden Eagles will take on Snow College at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Salt Lake City, Utah.
