TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The College of Southern Idaho Baseball Team beat USU Eastern 3-2 and 6-3 Friday to gain momentum heading into the Region 18 Tournament next week.
And the Golden Eagles did it on sophomore day, where they celebrated their 19 sophomores.
In game one,
Brody Duvall paced the offense, going 3-for-3 with a double and RBI.
Gavin Schoonover had a 2-RBI double as well.
Jack Barker finished with a double and
Logan West was 1-for-2.Â
Kaden Cloward earned the win, going six innings and giving up one earned run on five hits with six strikeouts.
Brennen Chappell got the save, pitching the final inning and giving up no runs on no hits.
CSI jumped out to a four-run lead in the first inning of game two and rolled from there.Â
Duvall was 2-for-4 and
Colby Carter was 3-for-4 with two RBI.
Junior Garcia his a two-run homer and
Jack Barker was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Ashton Johnson got the win on the mound, pitching seven innings and giving up three earned runs on five hits with eight strikeouts.
Malcolm Bartholomew earned the save pitching 1.1 innings and giving up no runs on no hits with one strikeout.
CSI, 30-23 overall and 13-16 in conference play, will be the four seed in the Region 18 Tournament that begins next week. CSI will open with host Southern Nevada at 4:30 p.m. MT Thursday.
