PRICE, Utah - It was the tale of two games Thursday in a Scenic West Athletic Conference matchup between sixth-ranked College of Southern Idaho and USU Eastern but the outcome was the same as the Golden Eagles beat USUE 5-4 and 18-1.
Struggling to get the timely hit in game one, CSI finally took the lead in the top of the eighth after
Abbie Banning tripled and
Mariah Schauwecker singled her in for the go-ahead run.
Abby Hayes shut the door in the bottom of the inning in the circle for the win. Hayes finished the game, giving up four earned runs on 10 hits with nine strikeouts.
Reagan Rex was 3-for-4,
Markessa Jensen was 1-for-4 with two RBI and
Kenzee Hale was 2-for-5.
Game two was all CSI as the Golden Eagles hit five home runs.
Hale was 3-for-4 with two doubles, a grand slam and four RBI.
Brylee Bigelow was 2-for-4 with a double, home run and two RBI,
Courtney Christiansen was 3-for-3 with a home run and five RBI,
Tasha Hokanson was 1-for-2 with a home run and three RBI, Banning was 1-for-2 with a home run and two RBI and Jensen was 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Eva Stoddard pitched a gem, going all five innings and giving up no earned runs on one hit with five strikeouts.
CSI will take on USUE Friday in a doubleheader at noon to finish up the regular season.
