HENDERSON, Nev. - The College of Southern Idaho needed a ball to bounce its way just once this weekend. After losing two one-run games on Friday, the Golden Eagles lost to Southern Nevada 6-2 and then 8-7 in 11 innings on Saturday.
CSI only gave up three earned runs in the game one loss.
Kaden Cloward gave up just one earned run on three hits with three strikeouts but ended up with the loss.
Dax Newman pitched the final 2.2 innings and didn't give up a run on three hits with two strikeouts.
But The Golden Eagles couldn't find enough offense to overcome.
Brody Duvall was 2-for-3 and
Jantzen Anderson was 2-for-2 but the rest of the CSI hitters accounted for just two more hits.
It looked like the Golden Eagles were going to take game two when they held a 7-4 lead going into the bottom of the ninth. But CSI gave up three runs to push the game into extra innings.
CSN ultimately pushed a run across in the bottom of the 11th for the win.Â
Colby Carter was 2-for-3 with an RBI,
Logan West was 3-for-5 with two doubles and one RBI and
Dax Newman was 1-for-2 with three walks.
Jack Barker finished with a double and two RBI.Â
Ashton Johnson pitched a brilliant 6.2 innings to start the game, giving up just one earned run on five hits with three strikeouts.
Malcolm Bartholomew earned the loss, pitching the final two innings and giving up one run on two hits with two strikeouts.
CSI, 21-18 overall and 6-11 in conference play, hosts league-leading Salt Lake Friday and Saturday.
