TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The College of Southern Idaho took game one on Saturday 6-5 in extra innings before falling to Salt Lake 13-5 in game two of Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
The Golden Eagles tied the game up in the fifth of game one and then neither team scored in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings, setting up the ninth-inning walk-off win for CSI.
Colby Carter and
Jantzen Anderson each walked to open the inning. With
Sammy Richards put in to run for Carter,
Kaden Schuck came to the plate. He laid down the perfect bunt single, which the pitcher picked up and tried to get the lead runner but threw it into left field for Richards to score easily for the win.
Both Schuck and Brody Duval finished the game 2-for-4 at the plate. Carter was 1-for-2 with three walks and a grand slam.
Logan West finished 2-for-2.
Brennen Chappell got the win on the mound, going the final 2.1 innings and giving up no runs on one hit with two strikeouts.
Game two provided a whole lot of walks between both teams.
Each squad finished with nine in the seven-inning game but Salt Lake took advantage of the walks by adding 11 hits.
Duvall was 2-for-4 again at the plate.
Jack Ryan and
Colby Carter were each 1-for-2 and
Eliot Jones was 1-for-1 with three walks.
Ashton Johnson earned the loss, going 1.2 innings and giving up four runs on four hits with four walks.
Garrett Miller pitched the final two innings, giving up no runs on no hits.
CSI, 22-21 overall and 7-14 in conference play, hosts USU Club Team Tuesday in non-conference action.
