CSI Softball bounces back with Saturday sweep of Salt Lake

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - After falling to the Bruins in two games Friday, the 11th-ranked College of Southern Idaho Softball Team beat sixth-ranked Salt Lake CC 10-2 and 14-5 to get the weekend split in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
With the scored tied at two going into the sixth inning of game one, the Golden Eagles put five runs on the board in the sixth and three in the seventh to pull away.
Brylee Bigelow was 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBI, Courtney Christiansen was 1-for-2 with three walks and Hailey Louder was 1-for-1. 
Markessa Jensen got the win in the circle, pitching all seven innings and giving up just two earned runs on seven hits with one strikeout.
Game two started the same way with Salt Lake holding a 2-1 lead going into the fifth inning. 
The Golden Eagles got two on before Salt Lake went to their bullpen to bring in Shelby Jones. Reagan Rex drew the walk to load the bases and Tessa Hokanson hit a grand slam to put CSI up for good. After another hit and a defensive error put two more Golden Eagles on board, Jensen hit another home run off Jones to put CSI up 8-2.
CSI would add two more runs in the sixth and four in the seventh.
Hokanson was 3-for-4 with four RBI, Kenzee Hale was 2-for-3 with two walks and three RBI and Taya Manzanares was 3-for-4 with a home run.
Abby Hayes started the game for CSI, going 3.2 innings and giving up two earned run on three hits with two strikeouts. Eva Stoddard got the win, going 3.1 innings and giving up one earned run on four hits.
CSI, 31-11 overall and 21-5 in conference play, travels to Snow College next Friday and Saturday.
