HENDERSON, Nev. - With a high wind advisory and the wind blowing out, the College of Southern Idaho Softball outlasted Southern Nevada for three wins, beating the Coyotes 15-10, 15-7 and 27-4 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
The Golden Eagles completed Friday's second game that was suspended due to darkness before playing the scheduled doubleheader.
Trailing 10-9 going into the seventh, CSI tacked on six runs and then shut CSN down in the bottom half.
Tessa Hokanson hit for the cycle in the game, going 4-5 with two RBI. Markensa Jensen was 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI and
Brylee Bigelow was 2-for-3 with two RBI. Courntey Christiansen was 2-for-3 with three RBI as well.
Abby Hayes earned the win, pitching the final two innings and giving up no runs on two hits with a strikeout.
In game two, CSI jumped out to a 12-1 lead and held on.
Tasha Hokanson was 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI and
Kenzee Hale was 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI. Christiansen was 3-for-3 with a double and three RBI and
Taya Manzanares was 3-for-4.
Reagan Rex was 2-for-3 and
Tessa Hokanson was 2-for-4 . Hayes earned the win in this game as well, going 4.1 innings and giving up six runs with one strikeout.
Game three was all CSI. The Golden Eagles finished with 23 hits and seven home runs.
Tessa Hokanson was 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBI. Her sister Tasha was 4-for-5 with a home run and three RBI, Hale was 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI, Christiansen was 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI,
Caroline Simpson was 1-for-1 with a home run and
Markessa Jensen was 4-for-5 with a grand slam and seven RBI.
Hailey Louder was 2-for-2.
Eva Stoddard earned the win in the circle, giving up four runs on eight hits with five strikeouts.
CSI, 13-5 overall and 4-0 in conference play, travels to Treasure Valley Tuesday for a double header before hosting Salt Lake CC next Friday and Saturday.
