SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The College of Southern Women's Basketball Team beat USU Eastern 56-53 Saturday to win the Region 18 Championship for the fourth straight year.
Neither team got in a rhythm offensively, but the Golden Eagles used a stingy defense to get the edge. CSI out-rebounded USUEÂ 45-39 and held the Eagles to 32 percent from the field and 19 percent from long range. CSI shot 34 percent from the field and 26 percent from the 3-point line.
Jamisyn Heaton led the Golden Eagles with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Mariah Mons and
Taylor Johnson each had 10 points. Johnson added seven rebounds and Mons had a team-high three assists.
Jayden McNeal finished with four points, three steals and eight rebounds and
Kaylee Headrick had eight points and five rebounds.
Heaton earned Region 18 Tournament MVP honors. Headrick made the all-tournament team.
