FORT MYERS, Fla. - The College of Southern Idaho fell to third-ranked Wallace State before beating Chipola College 5-3 Saturday to finish the Florida Southwestern Tournament.
The Golden Eagle were in a battle with Wallace State until an error led to six unearned runs in the fourth inning and the loss.
Tessa Hokanson,
Markessa Jensen and
Haylee Farnsworth were all 1-for-2 at the plate and Jensen had the lone RBI.
CSI put together three runs in the top of the seventh inning against Chipola and then held off a rally in game two.
Brylee Bigelow was 1-for-2,
Taya Manzanares was 2-for-3 and
Courtney Christiansen and
Tessa Hokanson were each 1-for-4. Christiansen had two RBI in the seventh.
In the circle,
Abby Hayes earned the win, going seven innings and giving up just two earned runs on eight hits with six strikeouts.
It was a good win for the Golden Eagles as the Indians had beaten top-ranked Florida Southwestern on Friday.
CSI, 9-5 overall, opens the Scenic West Athletic Conference schedule at Southern Nevada March 1-2.
